Call to action: bad cops (hoping someone new sees it)
Friday, my sister and sister-in-law were arrested in a small town in Nevada. They were pulled over and asked to step out of the vehicle. My sister-in-law was patted down inappropriately, they were cuffed and taken to jail. They weren’t read their rights and they weren’t told what their charges were. They have yet to see a judge or a lawyer, which is apparently the norm in Winnemucca, NV. Each of them has been given a $35,000 bail, which my father found out after talking to the jailer. He also found out they were charged with possession of marijuana and intent to distribute—felonies in Nevada. This would be harder to argue if they were guilty of said crime. They did not have any marijuana in their possession, however, and they were not searched at the time of arrest. I’m hoping to get the word out, to get advice, if anyone can help…I’ll be eternally grateful, truly.
